Once you have bought your new SLR Digital Camera, it will not be long until you start searching for accessories. You will most likely want a camera bag to hold your new camera and to protect it. You will have made a sizeable investment to buy your new camera and you will want to make sure you protect it well.
In addition, you will need some storage media, such as cards or flash drives. Getting a larger card lets you take high quality photos without running out of space on your card. And having flash drives lets you store those photos in a portable medium and it will not clog up the hard drive on your computer.
It is a good idea to have an extra battery on hand, because if you are making a day out of taking photos, you may run out of battery life before you are ready to head back in for the day. I don't know about you, but when I am having fun taking photos it really makes me angry to find myself out of battery life, especially if I am not anywhere next to an electrical outlet.
If you are just getting started as a photo nut, you will probably be good for a while with the lens that came with your digital SLR. But it will probably not be to far in the future before you start noticing some of the gadgets that some of your photographer friends have and all the cool things you can do with those gadgets. A really good zoom lens was the first new lens that I bought, and I am now looking at a wide angle lens. I have not decided which one to buy yet, but I have decided that I need one. My life will not be complete until I get one!
