What features bring quality to a digital camera?

It is all dependent upon the user.  The reason there are so many different types of digital cameras is because there are so many different types of users.  I sure we have all had someone tell us, whether we are talking about cameras or something else, brand x is the only way to go, it is the best product on the market.  And that is probably true……for the person that's telling the story.  That doesn't mean its going to be the best camera on the market for you!

Each user has to take into account their own preference when looking at a new digital camera.  Are you a point and shoot kind of person, you know, the kind that has a hard time making sense out the little icons on your camera settings?  Or are you fairly experienced, and you know all about fstops, shutter speeds, focal lengths, and lighting techniques?  It makes a huge difference in what type of camera will fit you best. Sometimes budget is biggest factor, in which case you will want to shop places like Newegg.com daily deals to get the most value for your money.

Features notwithstanding, sometimes the best digital camera for us will boil down to the look of the thing.  Really, who wants to be seen on vacation with a camera that they consider ugly?  Sometimes maybe it is the way it feels in our hands, or is it comfortable when you put it up to your face to take a picture, or if you are a screen user, how it feels when you hold it out in front of you.

And what about those screens?  Do you need glasses but refuse to wear them?  You might want to make sure that you get one of the digital cameras that has a larger screen on them.  it's hard enough to see what kind of picture you just took if you have great eyesight!  Some of those LCD screens are better than others also.  My first digital camera was almost impossible to see what was on the screen whenever you were out in the sun, although it did great when indoors.
